SUMMARY:Terminology Matters Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Hello everyone\,\n\nMy name is Jessica Lukawiecki and I’m a researcher working with Pathway 7\, Re-establishing Healthy Relationships with Wild Species\, with co-leads Dr. Susan Kutz and Dr. Jesse Popp. In collaboration with Pathway 3\, Recognition of Indigenous Rights – Sustainable Use\, led by Dr. Sherry Pictou and Dr. Tony Charles\, we are hosting a workshop on January 15\, 2026 (online) called “Terminology Matters“. This workshop creates space to critically reflect on the power of terminology in shaping environmental relationships\, policies\, and practices – especially from Indigenous perspectives.\n\nWe are hoping to collaboratively work on several outputs from the discussions at this workshop\, including a collaborative peer reviewed paper\, policy brief(s)\, and a short report\, created for educators\, decision-makers\, and Indigenous Nations.\n\nThe workshop will run from 10:30am to 4:30 PM EST\, and will be held on zoom.\n\nPlease register for this event using Eventbrite by December 20\, 2025.\nhttps://www.eventbrite.ca/e/1975194280263?aff=oddtdtcreator\n\nOnce you register\, we will add you to a calendar invite\, and send along more details shortly.\n\nWe’re inviting each Pathway to bring 1-2 Elders or Knowledge Holders who you think might benefit from and contribute to this conversation.\n\nSee attached poster for more details. Hoping to see you there! If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out.\n\nJessica

SUMMARY:Pathway T1 Webinar - Seeds of Sovereignty: Decolonizing the Narrative of Indigenous Food Systems
DESCRIPTION:Foundational Dialogue on Indigenous Food Sovereignty: Decolonizing the Narrative of Indigenous Food Systems\n \n The webinar\, inspired by the spirit of a Wise Circle\, will explore IFS as a decolonizing framework and as a pathway toward self-determined food systems. Ines Sebai will present her research findings from a collaborative project developed and refined together with Treena Dolomier\, Chris Furgal\, Alejandro Argumedo. This will ground the conversation in theoretical and community-based perspectives. \nInes will then be joined in dialogue by Chris Furgal\, an environmental health scholar working with Arctic Indigenous Peoples\, and Treena Delormier\, a leading researcher in Indigenous nutrition and health. Together\, they will share lived experiences\, research insights\, and community stories that illuminate the complexities and opportunities surrounding Indigenous food systems today. \nModerated by Alejandro Argumedo\, a Quechua agronomist from Peru with over 25 years of experience working with Indigenous peoples\, small-scale farmers\, and international institutions\, this session aims to build shared understanding\, identify conceptual and practical gaps\, and highlight opportunities for co-creation. \nThis webinar is a foundational step toward a living document that will gather key concepts\, experiences\, and principles from Indigenous communities—serving as a basis for continued collaboration\, collective learning\, and future action. \n\nDecember 10\, 2025\, at 9:00 EST (GMT-5)\nZoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81237430495?pwd=glfiXYLqeU7WH2akzsRpmHTchLV2MX.1\nMeeting ID: 81237430495\, Pass code: 747387\n\nTo save this event in your google calendar\, please click here.\nWe will arrange for French and Spanish interpretation.\nIf you have any questions or are in need of more information\, please contact Pathway T1’s students Esmeralda\, at esmeralda@andes.org.pe and/or Cecilia at cecilia@andes.org.pe.\n\nSincerely\,\nArramat T1 Pathway Team
