The title of this workshop contains a quote from Elders Reg and Rose Crowshoe of the Piikani Nation, who teach about what makes us real as Indigenous Peoples, and how we describe that process, “venue, action, language and song”. (see YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/HDOrB6RvdlU?si=YmfX4k1IusnjtWAf retrieved online May 8, 2026). This Writing Workshop Series is an opportunity to think about how to shift the focus from compliance with funder/institutional constructs (which sometimes carry a colonial unconscious bias or structural constraints) about what outputs, measures and indicators of a large research project, to recentering Ărramăt Project on Indigenous processes and honouring those outcomes, values and measures.
Proposed Participants:
Co-Principal Investigators, Pathway Co-Leads and Advisory Circle Members.
This two-day hybrid online and in person meeting will be hosted at the University of Winnipeg and will be held in connection with the proposed in person Advisory Circle meeting in Winnipeg, also tentatively scheduled for week of July 20-24. This is where the bulk of the writing will take place.
